Dark Pictures Anthology is a series of separate horror games with a cinematic atmosphere and a branching storyline, the course and ending of which depend on the decisions made by the player.
House of Ashes is the third game in the series.
Iraq, 2003 – the end of the war is approaching. A squad of soldiers, accompanied by CIA field agent Rachel King, is ordered to investigate a potential underground chemical weapons depot located at the foot of the Zagros Mountains.
Upon arrival, the search party falls into a trap set by a local patrol led by Sergeant Salim Othman.
The shock of the battle causes fissures in the ground, into which both fighting groups fall. It turns out that the Arabian Desert hides a buried Sumerian temple in which an ancient evil has awakened. The savage and extremely resilient creatures leave their hiding place and go hunting.
Faced with terrifying discoveries, the soldiers must make difficult decisions to find their way through the underground maze and escape the terrible threat.
Each of them can put their own survival first, or put aside their fears and forget their insecurities as they fight side by side together.
